Information - This type of steam propelled carriage was first constructed in 1903 - the postcard shows No1. This was the first of 99 of the type and was 57 feet long - others were up to 70 feet long. They are un-usual in the that there is a vertically mounted steam engine built on a four wheel driving set. I suppose it is an 0-4-4. The chimney and connecting rods are visible at the left end. No93 has been restored to working order, and is based at Didcot.
