Information - This little Brittan-Norman "Islander" was carrying mail from Manchester to the Isle of Man when it got into trouble. Luckily, Ainsdale Beach was below. This beach is massive - it is at least a couple of miles wide, flat, and firm, added to which the tide goes out over a mile, so plenty of opportunity to 'ditch' the plane. Unfortunately, the tide was on the way in at the time, and apparently submerged the plane before it could be retreived.
