Further InformationFrom 1948 to 1949 the ship owners were the Cunard White Star Line, then changing to Cunard Line for the rest of its service as a luxury cruise line - loved by all who sailed in her - and known affectionately as the "Green Godess". After finishing with Cunard, she was sold to Star Line and renamed T.S.S. Columbia, but was quickly sold again to the Universal Cruise Line, who renamed her "Caribia". They made dramatically unsuccesful attempts to return her to the Cruise service, but in 1974, following years of being laid up in dock at New York, she was towed to Taiwan for scrap. In a severe storm, she foundered on rocks and sank.
