Used: Posted in PLYMOUTH in 1906 to Elgar, Wyndham Square, Plymouth.
Condition -  An excellent quality print, probaly from Germany. Good clean, bright card. veru slight wear to corners
Information - This dam was completed in 1898, and this photograph must have been taken very shortly after that due to cleanliness of the structure. It was built to supply water to Plymouth, with its ever increasing population. Originally designed to deliver up to approx 650 million gallons of water per day, the height of the dam was increased by 10 feet in 1929 in order to increase capacity to over one billion gallons daily.
