- The S.S. ANGLIA entered
service in 1900, and had a relatively quiet career 'back and to' on the
Irish run, until the outbreak of WW1 in 1914. She was then
requisitioned by the Government as a Hospital ship, and became H.M.H.S.
ANGLIA. In 1915 she was sunk by a German mine a mile off Folkeston. Many
people were rescued but 134 died in the water. 1862 grt |
