Used: Posted, to Holland, but stamp has been removed taking a thin surface off the card - cancel dated SOUTHAMPTON 25 SEP 1931
Condition - A very nice sepia real photograph postcard - with wear to the corners
Further Information - There are numerous ships in the picture including a paddle steamer at the left end and another at the extreme right end of the pier. In the background are at least eight warships with their typical vertical prows. The ROYAL PIER, built in 1833, was some 900 feet in length. It has gone through various and numerous transitions, but is derelict and apparently beyond repair today. Word is that in 2015 it is to be dismantled in favour of the modernisation of Southampton waterfront.
