postcard from this Exhibition/Exposition to celebrate the "Entente Cordiale" between
England and France. The back has "Post Card" in English and French "Carte
Postale". The two opposing arms of the 'flip-flap' travelled from level
to level through 180 degrees, giving the public a birds-eye view of the Expo
area. All the buildings of this 140 acre (56 hectare) site have now been
demolished, except for part of the Japanese Garden, and a few tiles which
are preserved within the Television Centre. The 'Flip-Flap' was sent for scrap
in 1937. |
