Description : View from the flight deck of the Aircraft Carrier H.M.S. Victorious at sea, with a Supermarine 'Walrus' aircraft just lifting off. Another is away ahead of him. The steam catapult - below - has just finished its' work. Official photograph taken during 1941 with the officers name, rank, and serial number shown on the card reverse. I can find no record of the "Walrus" being part of the ships compliment during WW2, but the aircraft carriers support vessels had two each and were capable of catapult launches. It is reasonable that some of these Walrus's occasionally landed on the Victorious
