Location - The TRANSPORTER BRIDGE, ROUEN, Northern France. - (Pont a Transbordeur). A very rare type of suspension bridge with only about 23 ever having been built in the world, plus one at Bordeaux for which only the towers were built. The Rouen bridge had a span of 142 metres and a height of 67 metres above the River Seine. It was built to the design of Ferdinand Arnodin and was completed in 1898. It continued in use until it was destroyed by the French themselves in WW2 to hinder the progress of the German Army.
