Information - Built in only 19 months, and
put into service across the Old Port of Marseille, this bridge stood
until 1944. It was only used until the 1930's, due to lack of
finance to upkeep it. The German Army blew it up in 1944 in order to
block the port during the Liberation of Marseille, but only one
tower fell into the water. The other tower was demolished by the
French in 1945.
