Further Information -  A rarity amongst bridges of the world, as the total number of Transporter Bridges ever built is only in the low 20's, with about half that surviving today. This one straddles the River Penfeld. It was built in BIZERTA, in TUNISIA in 1898, and in 1909 it was dismantled and moved to Brest. It was damaged during WW2 (1944) and was demolished in 1947.
