Subject: The catastrophy of the Pluviose. On 26 May1910, the French Submarine PLUVIOSE collided with the French Paddle Steamer "Pas de Calais" less than a mile from Calais port. The Pluviose sank with the compete loss of life. The "Pas de Calais" made it back for repairs to be made to her bow. The picture taken from the beach shows the recovery of the Pluviose 11 days later. Although a long distance shot, the prow of the submarine is shown emerging from the water.
