Description - The Palace Pier Brighton - When it opened in 1899, this was known as the Brighton Marine Palace and Pier. It soon became known as the Palace Pier, which name it held until it was bought by the Noble Organization in 2000, and then became "Brighton Pier". The other two piers in Brighton were unable to compete for the name due to their continuing dis-use and dereliction.
