Further Information:
The first building on the right is the "UNION
BANK
of Manchester"
- see plaque on the wall below. This subsequently became Barclays Bank,
then a restaurant, and has been completely overhauled and refurbished by
Temples Letting Agents, prior to moving in during 2015/16. A few
building further down can be seen the signboard of the
Manchester &
COUNTY BANK.
This building
dates the postcard as the bank traded under that name for about one year
only - 1935. It too is still there today (Apr 2017), occupied by
solicitors. Remarkably it still displays a poll on the roof which bears
the monogram CBL - County Bank Ltd. |
